Lithology and Thickness
In Syria, dominantly dark gray, very fine-grained to porcellaneous, siliceous, thin to medium, evenly bedded dolomite. Minor contemporaneous slump and brecciation features occur in the upper 400 feet. A conspicuous, massive, brown, porous, crystalline dolomite forms the top of the unit. 200 feet of anhydrite with subordinate thin dolomite and dark shale. (According to the paper, Khaneh Kat is a separate formation below Adaiyah, Mus, and, Alan layers, however, according to the chart, Khaneh Kat is the formation and Adaiyah, Mus, and, Alan are members of the formation.)
In Central Iraq, Evaporite. Consists of bedded anhydrites with subordinate beds of brownish limestones and black calcareous shales and greenish marls, both with anhydrite nodules. In some wells salt beds occur.

Regionally, the schematic strat column indicates the next older unit as Butmah Fm. In Iran, it is Dashtak Fm
